How to Fix Facebook #17 Error (User Request Limit Reached)

You may receive an error message on Facebook saying that the user request limit has been reached. This happens when Facebook receives too many requests from the same user.

Facebook API has a rate limit, which defines the number of API calls that an application or a user is allowed to send within a certain time period. This number is 200 calls an hour for an application, but Facebook doesn’t reveal the count per user due to privacy concerns.

However, if you exceed their set number of requests per hour, you’ll receive the #17 error message.

There are ways to solve this error or avoid it:

  • Try to manually refresh the feed after an hour. The error message should be gone.
  • Use Facebook proxies. This will enable you to spread your requests and you won’t be sending all the calls from the same IP address.
